Insert Space Travelling noise

I’ve been dying to share my new update, but I wanted to wait until after this weekend when the first episode of the new Doctor Who series aired. Although it won’t appear on NZ tv screens until next weekend.
It’s called Space Traveler and it’s by David Hoffrichter. I thought new Doctor, why not a new start.

I’ve completed one full page plus bits of surrounding pages which probably adds up to two full pages done already

I had been working on Knitariffic up until then and I now have only two pages left and it will be done.

24augmsThere won’t be much stitching going on over the next few weeks as I have a couple of orders for some shawls. Two of the same design, which I’ve done before, both in black!!
The yarn hasn’t quite arrived yet, so I will continue to get as much stitching done until then.

I also have to share some news about Turandot. If you are my friend on Facebook you may already know about this, but my darling Princess Turandot is currently on loan to the Christchurch Casino and is on display in the VIP/high rollers room. Tim, my husband, works there, and thought it might be a nice idea to see if the power’s that be might like to change up the room a little and he thought Turandot might make a nice addition. He thought she would be possible put on the wall behind the cashier, but she has been put on full display in the main area. She can even be seen from the main gaming floor downstairs.

I was lucky enough to visit her a couple of weeks ago and I got loads of lovely comments about her. Although I do miss having her here at home, it is nice to have others appreciating the hard work.

Mystery QS update #2

This update has a bit more discernible detail.

I am hoping to get a little more done of this before I send out the next page of the Freebie SAL. But since I still have parts of page 2 and 3 left to do on TOTA I will be putting in a day to get those filled and have the piece ready for that last page. I should have a finish very soon.

I’ve got a few knitting photos to share.

Firstly I “borrowed” my niece for some shots with my Taliesin.

frontt backt2
backtAnd I have another new start. Feel free to roll your eyes. lol

This is my start on Montadale.

As you probably already know, blocking will make the detail appear. But you can already see the cables and lace detail already making itself known.

montI’m using Knitsch colour The Mad Blood Stirreth, and it is a lot darker than this shot taken with the flash makes it look.

Ice Palace 15 Aug update and a few other things

I’ve been putting this update off as I knew I would have loads of pictures to edit for it. Firstly my Ice Palace update.

I’ve reached the top edge, and although it’s still quite detail heavy, with loads of colour changes, the edge has allowed me to speed up a little with the blocks of solid colour.

Next I have a new mystery start. Can you figure out from this update what it might be. A hint : It’s a QS (Also forgot to mention that I’m doing this in a mixture of HDF silks and DMC)

MQS15augAnd here are some knitting progress pictures.

First one up is a lace piece called Unwind. The pattern doesn’t show so well right now, but like everything will look totally different once blocked.

unwindAnd I also have a finished, unblocked shawl called Rushing Tides. As you can see, if you clicked the link, it will look totally different once blocked.

rushing tidesAnd here is my lovely niece modelling my finished Biellese. I am not 100% satisfied with the look of the pickedup stitches at the border and may, in the future, reblock it taking more care in this area.

fullAnd finally I have completed my KAL with Petrina (who hasn’t even started hers), Taliesin.

Here are some shots of it unblocked.

And here’s what it looks like nowblocking

point cu cu2Totally different.

I hope you managed to make it through all of this. Don’t forget to let me know what you think the Mystery QS is.

One page down, many more to go – Ice Palace

I have completed the first full page. You can now see the wolves appearing.

And here is the first update of my latest knitting project, Ringwraith Stole.
This is my “waiting in the car for Tim” project

I’m knitting it in a black 4ply which I think is slightly thicker than most 4ply I’ve worked with lately, so it looks a little chunky, but once it is blocked out (I’ve just pinned this so it’s straight) it will loose a little of that chunkiness and will be a lot lighter and lacier. Although I don’t think it looks too bad like this; you can see all the detail quite clearly.

Two socks and a mouse head

I have finally finished my pair of socks from the Mystery Knitalong.

I used a Possum/Merino blend so they won’t be able to worn until winter as they are far too warm for the NZ summer.

And, here is the mystery new HAED I shared recently with a few extra stitches.

Unfortunately no one guessed it correctly here, but there were a few that got it correct on Facebook.

It is indeed Knit a rific.

30jansDon’t you just love the zombie mouse with no eyes….creepy

I’m going to work a few more days on Ice Palace now but it won’t be too long before I have this one out again as it stitches up so quickly and the colours are amazing.

First look : Ice Palace

I’ve just started my next BAP and here’s the first look at it.

This will be take a long time to complete, but like Turandot I will get there in the end.

Next update should be another update on my socks. I have done a little more since the last update but it’s only the heel, so nothing exciting to look at.

And I will have another new HAED start to share. I’ve just started it and it’s the chart and threads I purchased using the voucher I won from Lesli’s blog giveaway.

I also have been doing something this year that I have never done before. I’m keeping an ORT (Old raggedy threads) container. I usually just chuck the left over threads out, but I am curious as to how much I have thrown out in the past. I will be doing this collection exclusively for my stitching, so no knitting threads will be included.
