Finished – Iron Dragon

I have finally finished it. I would have had it finished last night if it hadn’t been for a visit to the movies (Prince of Persia) as well as a visit to a relative. But I completed it this morning and here are details.

One page done and…. nearing completion

One page done on QS Sweet Flowery Dreams that is. I can’t wait to pick this one up again, it’s such a surprise to see how all the different colours blend together to form the flowers.

As for that statement, nearing completion, I think you know what that is for. Yes, Iron Dragon aka ‘The Beast’ only has two and a bit partial pages left to go. I should have it done before the month is out. So until then I will share this final update and it’s of the back wheel.

Next update will be the finished article. YAY!!!

I have also made my decision for the Freebie SAL. It will be…….

Light of the World by Dona Gelsinger

I can’t wait to dig into that hair. with my needle. Bring on the first page, I say!!

Turandot… The Beast… and something else

Three updates today. All images are enlarged by clicking

Firstly I’ve spend most of this weekend working on Turandot and don’t have much to show for it. I’m working on the gown at the moment and with the dangle bits of her headdress in the way it’s been slow going.

and a closeup of the area I’ve been working on

Next up is ‘The Beast’. It’s getting so close to completion that I’m able to put some colours away. I’ve finished with a couple of the reds and should have some of the blacks completed soon. There will probably only be one more full size update, here only, and a couple more closeup shot as I hit the home stretch. You can’t believe how excited I am about finishing this one.

And lastly today is the update of Petrina’s QS Sweet Flowery Dreams.

Isn’t it sweet? Awww

It might not seem like much has been done, it doesn’t to me, but I did finish off two pages recently and now have only 1 full page and 5 partial pages left before this puppy is complete.

The themed SAL for this weekend on the HAED board is bright colours so I’m working on QS Alexandra. I’m hoping to get a page out of the way on her also. I can’t believe she hasn’t been out since the beginning of the year. Poor thing. So look out for that.

I have also an update on QS Sweet Flowery Dreams. This is however NOT MINE!!! This is Petrina’s work.

Two updates and print pics

I was going to write this last night but I just couldn’t figure out what to write. Maybe 12.30 am is NOT the time to blog.

I did however manage to post these two updates in all the right places. Pheww. Now I just need to put them here.

It’s been a while since I’ve shown a full shot of Turandot. I hope she’ll grow faster now that I’m reaching the end of the blocky background. It is very daunting when you see that you got thousands of one colour to stitch. I sometime wonder if I can contract just that part out to someone.

Iron Dragon (‘The Beast’) has nearly had all its top right background completed also. A few days determined effort should see that done, but that’s not where the Qsnap is at the moment. Any guesses where it is and where I’ll be working on it?

I promised to mention my Brigid Ashwood prints and how she helped me out. So here goes…..

Brigid offered to help me by offering to replace the prints I never received. I must say I had never emailed or ordered from Brigid, so when she contacted ME I was blown away. I’ve admired her artwork from afar and own some of her HAED charts (link to them).

Well, I subsequently received a full refund from the other merchant and since I’m such a nice person and I didn’t want Brigid to be out of pocket, due to my misfortune, I offered to pay her the amount of the refund.

She kindly offered me a wonderful discount code instead and I ended up buying a few more prints also.

All prints are available through her site.

If you want to know the name of any particular piece, or where exactly to find it on her site, please ask and I’ll happily point you to it.

I also have a couple pictures of pieces I’ve framed recently. There are more but they are on my phone and I cant get to them at the moment.

My original Jennifer Nilsson. I already had a print of her, but I lurve this original.

and a couple of pieces from Meredith Dillman.

Can you see why I couldn’t do this at 12.30?

A final note. I hope to have a sock to share for my next update. A SOCK!!!??? Yup, I started knitting a sock last night. It’s been a while since I’ve done any knitting, but I got some pre-patterned wool on Saturday and I’m already over half done on one.

A quick update

It’s the Freebie Sal on the HAED board again and since I have to wait until next month for the next page to arrive I worked on my SK Die Walkur again.

Tomorrow it’s back to Iron Dragon. I’ve completely finished down to 60 rows fully across.  I’m starting to see the end in sight.

I’ll post an update after next weekend when I will have the latest Turandot update also. Yup, another month has whizzed by.

‘Sadness’ and ‘The Beast’

The HAED board SAL theme this month was ‘Faces’. The only one that really stood out for that theme was Sadness of an Angel by Zindy Nielsen, although when I got her out I realised there wasn’t much face left to do so I didn’t join in the SAL officially. Instead I just worked on her for three days and here she is.

The before image:

She made a nice change from all the confetti I’ve been doing on Iron Dragon (The Beast) by Ciro Marchetti.

Which I also have an update of:

I have been making what I think is extremely slow progress on the engine. While stitching I just couldn’t envision what I was working on either. Usually you can tell by the chart and see that that is the helmet, that is the cloud etc, but not with that part. He’s back on the QSnap frame now and really to go again once I’m done here and I can see only a few more updates until he’s a done deal!!!

I had to make an emergency HAED purchase the other day. I had forgotten to buy the HAED birthday club chart. You pay $10US and get the chart of your choice on your birthday. Details are on the website. I have purchased it every year and wasn’t going to make this year an exception. So I used the discount code that was sent out with the latest HAED newsletter and now I’m all set. I have since realise that there will most likely be a St Patrick’s Day sale and I could have got it cheaper still, but I don’t want to count on it in case there isn’t.

I’ll let you know what I choose later in the month when the bday comes around!!!
