Catfish – left half complete

The slow WIP that I’ve been working on lately is Catfish.
It’s been nice working on a black and white, and particularity with the HDF silks.

I managed to wrangle my hand model (my sister Petrina) for a photo shoot of the Forgotten Love mitts.
The glove blockers worked a treat. They didn’t over stretch the pattern and they dried in no time.

IMG_0396 IMG_0397 IMG_0398I have made a start on Christchurch Shawl and am now onto the repeat rows of the body.
It needs to be blocked to show the design off to its fullest, but here is a quick peek at it.

IMG_0414I’ll be back to working on my Mum’s shawl now. The weather here has been quite unseasonably cold, and with the shawl getting larger it won’t be a problem having all the warmth of it on my lap. When I left it, it was at ten repeats of the pattern.

A couple of strange kitties

By strange I mean that they have been strangers lately. Although I have been working on them I haven’t posted an update on them for a while and with Freebie SAL page coming out I though you deserved a cute kitty overload.

Next update will be Turandot. I bet you’ve been waiting for that, I know I have.

A new start and an update on repairs

I won’t be talking too much about the repairs to the house as NOTHING has been started yet.

It turns out we moved out slightly prematurely. We had everything (except for some little bits still to pick up) out and when the builders can to check the levels etc they found all the floors level except the lounge room which has a drop of nearly 40mm. A drop that size needs to get “work” done and subsequently no repairs can be done until that end is rectified.

So, we’ve now had ground surveyors check to see if the ground is actually able to support a house in that spot and all signs look good there. Next step is an building engineer, and as you can guess they are very busy here in Christchurch at the moment.

The one thing that everyone is in agreement on is that something isn’t normal. The floors are level yet most (if not all) the windows/doors are jammed shut, or with the exception of the door to the conservatory, jammed open!! So something has mooooved.

That’s as closed as it’s going.

That’s what the wall on the other side of the door looks like

Oh well….

Onto something that is exciting. I’m starting something NEW

I had some silks arrive from HDF and with what I had left over from QS Peacock I’m kitted out for a new colourful, silky start.

and from another angle

I don’t think it will remain a mystery for long but can you figure out what it is by looking at the threads alone?

You may have noticed my storage box? It’s the left overs from a Christmas present….. Ferrero Rochers.

I use a smaller box for storing my Catfish threads as well. And speaking of Catfish, here’s an update for you. I haven’t done much but I did promise a WIP in this post

Catfish quick update

I thought I should share a quick update. I’m due the last page of the QS SAL this weekend so intend to work on that until it’s completed which shouldn’t be too long since it’s a partial page.

So, not only will I (hopefully) have another finish in the form of QS Little One Lost, but for my next post I will also be running a giveaway as well. You just have to give me a simple answer. I say simple but when you see the question you might have to think a little. Believe me you’ll want to enter if you’re a HAED fan.

Until I get that last QS page I will work on Catfish and my next update on this one, I promise, will be a full size update.

Catfish and that piece for Tim

There’s another two pages (minus 10 stitches) done and I’m edging ever closer to half way.

I’ve also been able to get a bit done on Tim’s piece also.

He’s been busy helping clear some remaining bits from his mated guns shop. It was stuff that was being done slowly over time as to do it right the first time but someone managed to break into the front of the shop which Gary was out back and Gary was subsequently assaulted. He was left bruised, battered, concussed and with a broken arm.  The police called Tim the following day to see if he could organise the emptying of the important items and since it was his day off and Tim’s good like that he said yes. That left me with a couple of days where I could work on the bach and I’m now back into the exciting part of the surrounding bush.

Next update will hopefully be a finish of QS Little One Lost. I posted in my last entry that the last page was due this weekend when in fact it’s next weekend. This was due to this month having five weekends. What’s another week… I can wait.

I also want to let you know that I will be running a giveaway soon too, so keep an eye out for that one.

Catfish update

I think I mentioned in my last update that I had completed 3 pages well I was wrong I had in fact completed four pages.
After this SAL I am well on the way to completing another page and I hope to have that done next time it’s out.

I promise to straighten the piece, or at least lay it flat, before taking the photo next time. The back of the couch didn’t really work this time.

I have QS Little One Lost out now for that freebie SAL and hope to get the second to last page near completion in anticipation for the last page which is due out next month.

Catfish – two more pages done

Yes. I now have three pages fully completed and that completes the left column of pages done.

I’ve decided to work on this piece again for the week. The Haed board is have the week-long themed SAL and this week it is  Halloween and I definitely think this piece comes under the heading as a little spooky and creepy

Not only will I be working on this one but I also hope to get some work done on Tim’s piece while he heads out hunting early next week.

Happy stitching
